brings us to another outbuilding, not to the central chamber, shown to a building inside another dome

||||

toilet has no toilet paper, only 3 shells

||||

zarveth tells squelch to remember his station as the queens champion, he doesn’t have to bow and simper to these disgusting lesser beings, remember their duty

sq is unimpressed and asks what makes them better than the fish people

||||

Zarveth asks if he has eyes and spreads his wings, looks menacing

flies up into the rafters and hangs upside down like a bat to wait

sq decides to go out and they all travel to the central dome

||||

no one appears to be paying attention to them or following them

get to central dome and come across an access door, in a foyer/ airlock, not full of water; door is covered with shells and coral and stuff, sealed up

behind us comes up a 4 arm dude, pulls out a key and opens it while death staring us, enters and closes it behind him, zarveth tries to grab the door but it closes on his hand and damages a finger.

||||

zarveth is incensed, might have to eat that one later at the feast
|
||||
|
||||
sq thinks we could potentially swim up under it if we need to later, not right now, the lobster seems to be in that central dome structure.

||||
|
||||
go back to the other dome, people peddling fish oil etc, alex jones fish person liquid consciousness meme; another one carving coral out of rock.

||||
|
||||
looking around, it seems to be a bit of a warrior culture, people seem angry and all of the warrior caste

||||

||||
look around for other forms of transport, only seem to use sharks, Zarveth suggests attempting to secure some sharks as a plan b if their dinner talks fail.

Sq isn’t that keen, keen to try diplomacy first, asks what they have to offer, what are they doing

||||

zarveth explains that they are encouraging them to acknowledge their true god, there are people that are right and people that are dead. reminds squelch he bears the mark of the queen on his brown and should remember his place as a pious member of her civilisation.

sq is very disquieted by this devils behaviour thinks they should wait for the dinner

see meteor crash into ocean and sink past, coral carver goes up to it and is seized by a vine that emerges, like a giant seed, drowns and is dragged down by it.

zarveth goes off to find sharks, runs into crazy used shark salesman

||||

offers him a torn off face; enough to buy one shark, need more for 3 more, isn’t intimidated by all the horrific offerings zarveth has.

shark salesman says if he can get a harpoon from royal ballistas, he would give him 3 more sharks for that. zarveth agrees, he will get it, or many mortals will die in him trying.

||||
|
||||
secures “old tony” big old shark with a bite out of its fin, crafts a saddle out of mortal leather, faces etc, puts a thigh bone in its mouth as a bit.
|
||||
|
||||
returns to squelch, parks up and puts a soul coin in the meter
|
||||
|
||||
at the dinner they are negotiating, squelch talks about peace and salvation, saving their community
|
||||
|
||||
noble stands up and says his shark god will save them, he has many gifts and blessings
|
||||
|
||||
z like what !? your nonsensical domes full of air that you cannot breathe, pathetic…
|
||||
|
||||
noble is embarrassed and intimidated and sits down
|
||||
|
||||
sq talks of saving their race, zarveth talks about their purpose and duty to the new queen, imagine the children of the great shark straddling the universe and conquering worlds with the queen.

||||
|
||||
room is divided by this oratory, they seem warm to the conquest angle
|
||||
|
||||
General has a key on his belt that zarveth sees with his superior vision
|
||||
|
||||
rooms quitens down for the meal and ongoing small talk, zarveth eating a corpse
|
||||
|
||||
sq talking to a noble that questioned, asks about the shark god, it drives them into a blood frenzy, squelch says he knows how that feels. is talking treason and how he isn’t whole heartedly on board with the teachings and beliefs of the queen. he’s biding his time til he sees and opportunity to overthrow her, if they merged their communities, they would be closer to that time. “so you worship a false god”

zarveth doing the opposite on the other side of the room, talking about rivers of blood, entire oceans of it will be theirs if they follow the queen. imagine conquering entire worlds and making races bow to the mighty children of the shark.

right then, Squeeve the goblin wizard cuts his finger and 8 of the fish people react and immediately start to have a frenzy. seeing their reaction, zarveth seizes him, holds up his hand and shows them the blood, uses this to add to his oration and talk of blood.
|
||||
|
||||
squelch sees them being driven mad and runs up and grabs him to heal his finger before they go nuts.
|
||||
|
||||
3 of the fish people break and succumb to their blood lust, 2 guards start to move to calm them down, zarveth reacts with inhuman speed and tells them this is a gift and to drink their fill, throws squeeve to them with a malicious grin.

||||
|
||||
they swarm and attack him, only 1 hit lands but he’s more injured and bleeding again; Creampie, squelch tries to heal him again. bangs hammer on the ground and bangs his hammer on the ground, tells them to “halt this madness” in a reedy voice and fails to intimidate them
|
||||
|
||||
guards come in and restrain one, failing to get the other two
|
||||
|
||||
Zarveth roars and frightens the two combatants “CEASE!”
|
||||
|
||||
rest of the room seem ok and not frightened.
|
||||
|
||||
they don’t snap out of the blood frenzy but are unable to approach, still can attack Squeeve tho
|
||||
|
||||
they all miss squeeve, he’s not injured further and isn’t bleeding
|
||||
|
||||
squeeve firebolts one for moderate damage, air smells like burning fish, gross
|
||||
|
||||
squelch belts one of the attackers with a hammer, breaks him out of blood frenzy, now he’s just frightened.
|
||||
|
||||
hits the other one as well, causes them to flee, guard tackles them all
|
||||
|
||||
general and the others usher them out to escort them back to their home
|
||||
|
||||
in the airlock, as soon as the central door closes, zarveth casts magical darkness and covers with a sneeze, tries to pickpocket the keys, fails but isn’t discovered.
|
||||
|
||||
dispels darkness and they continue home
|
||||
